How to travel without the hassle
Traveling can be a hassle if you don’t know how to prepare for it. Of course, every trip will be different depending on the day you are traveling, the airline you are using and the destination that you are traveling to.
To get the best out of your travel plans, you have to be prepared for your travel. Know enough about other people’s experience with different airlines. You may have a different experience, but nine times out of ten if there are enough people complaining about an airline, it is probably true.
You want to also prepare for your trip at least a week in advance. What I mean by that is to start your packing. You may ask, “Why do I have to start so soon?” Well, for one, you don’t want to forget anything for your trip. If you have to go out and purchase anything, you want to at least know before the day of your trip. You also need to know how much your luggage weighs. The airlines charge for anything over 50 pounds, so make sure you have a scale to weigh your luggage before that day of the trip.
If you don’t weigh your bags and you go to the airport and find it overweight, this is where the hassle comes in. You will be asked to either unload your overweight and put it into another bag or pay the fee charged for an overweight bag.
Try not to travel on any weekend trips because when you fly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it cost you much more than traveling during the weekdays. The influx of people traveling will also be a lot and you will always see a crowd at the airport. You have to join lines for food and for boarding the airplane. Also, there are many airlines that charge an additional surcharge of up to $40 for weekend flights. The hotel also has weekend rates and so do the rental car companies.
If you can truly avoid weekend travel, I think you really should. There will be times of course, that you can’t, but for the most part, try to avoid it as much as possible. You should not wait for the last minute to book your flight either. You may find flights that you would like to take full and you can’t get in. You will then have to change the date of travel to fit the airline’s schedule instead of your own schedule.
During summer and winter periods when the travel is heavy, you will experience airline delays and problems that you would normally not encounter during off peak seasons. Travel as light as you can. If you can travel just with a carry-on bag, by all means do so. With only a carry-on bag, you will get through the security checkpoint much quicker and you will also be able to check in much faster as well. You can make your travel hassle-free, if you take the right steps to prepare for your travel beforehand.
